Why replace windows or doors?

new home, renovating one, or simply keeping up with maintenance. In particular, with timber products there is an obvious temptation to repair rather than replace.
However, this can be a false economy. Major advances have been made in recent years in terms of the quality of windows, and replacement with decently-made products will ensure they last for many decades with only routine maintenance. In addition, technology with regard to sealing and glazing means that drafts and heat loss are massively reduced - meaning potentially huge savings on energy bills over the long term.
Naturally, high-quality windows and doors will enhance the value of your home, as well as its appearance. For period properties, sash windows have long been a nightmare for owners, but this is no longer the case. We offer a range of sash designs, which incorporate 24mm double glazing with specially designed seals. This results in windows which are smooth and easy in operation and which offer greatly improved weather sealing. These bear little resemblance to the poor-quality plastic products of old. The timber alternative windows we supply are manufactured and designed to supreme standards and with the vast range of colours and finishes are almost indistinguishable from traditional timber, and offer the added benefits of excellent efficiency and almost zero maintenance. Not only flush casement windows, but also sash windows are now available in timber-alternative construction. Many of these are almost indistinguishable from original timber and now offer a genuine long-term, low maintenance solution.
Of course, don't forget your doors either! Our timber entrance doors, for example, are manufactured to your requirements from Grade 1 hardwood using wedged mortice and tenon joints. All are finished in our workshops with a multi-layer micro-porous stain or paint in your choice of finish. This not only enhances the natural beauty of the timber, but also provides excellent weather protection that nevertheless allows the wood to 'breathe', resulting in an extremely long life. We now also supply and fit the stunning range of Door-Stop composite entrance doors. With all the beauty of timber, but with much greater thermal efficiency and security, combined with extremely low maintenance, these are simply excellent.
